PAASS Classes & Camps

We’ve partnered with Mill Valley Recreation and Marin YMCA to offer our participants a wide range of ongoing classes, summer camp opportunities, and private instruction. Due to popular demand, we encourage early registration.
PAASS classes and camps are taught by professionals who have years of experience working with special needs youth and young adults in Mill Valley and the Bay Area. In addition, devoted student volunteers from local middle and high schools greatly contribute to the success and enjoyment of our participants.
A nominal registration fee is required for participation, however scholarships may be available. Contact us for more information.
If you’re interested in volunteering or want to sponsor a PAASS participant or program, please let us know. Thank you for your support!

Awesome Kids Yoga

Course begins January 10, 2018

Adaptive yoga for kids with special needs is a way to incorporate the benefits of traditional yoga with the particular needs of your child, regardless of his/her disability. Yoga uses breathing practices and body postures to strengthen muscles, improve balance, increase body awareness, promote relaxation and emotional regulation. With the use of props and modified poses, Adaptive Yoga yields the same benefits of traditional yoga. Class begins with a guided breathing practice, warm-up movements, posture/asana and ends with deep relaxation. Students are encouraged to work at their own level and the instructor will provide modifications when needed. Most classes are led with music. Parents/caregivers are welcome to participate. 10 classes per course. Open to Ages 7 – 14.

Marin YMCA Youth Adapted Exercise

Registration Now Open. Classes are ongoing throughout the year.

Youth Adapted Exercise is a weekly, small-group class designed to help individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities provide a foundation for building a more physically active lifestyle through skill development and games. Classes cover motor development, circuit training, continual movement, spatial awareness, balance and equilibrium development, with the help of various sporting and exercise tools. Each class will begin with a short movement warm-up, followed by a set of stretches. The group will then transition into skill development, which will lead into a game or activity.

Instructor Brooks Emerson has been teaching sports and swimming techniques to individuals of varying abilities for more than 8 years. He is certified in Personal Training, Therapy Exercise, and Youth Development through the International Sports Science Association.

To sign up, please register online or submit an intake/registration form at the Marin Y front desk. Classes have a minimum of two and a maximum of 6-8 participants.
